Teeth whitening
Professional teeth whitening to a natural shade in a clinical setting. The Diadenta clinic uses the Epic-BIOLASE laser system for teeth whitening.
Professional teeth whitening is designed to lighten the natural color of teeth using special whitening agents.
At the “Diadenta” clinic, we use the “Epic-BIOLASE” laser system for teeth whitening. We also offer at-home teeth whitening with trays. Laser whitening is performed in a clinical setting after an evaluation of the condition of your teeth, gums, and dental restorations.
Teeth whitening with trays is performed at home using custom-made trays and following the specialist’s instructions. The results of this teeth whitening can last for a long time. Teeth are whitened using 10% or 16% carbamide peroxide during the day or at night.
Trays can also be used to whiten individual teeth, such as those that have become discolored after root canal treatment or trauma.
It is important to know that teeth whitening changes the shade of the natural tooth structure. It is not the same as professional oral hygiene. Professional cleaning removes surface stains, while whitening is designed to lighten the actual color of the teeth.
Does professional teeth whitening damage tooth enamel?
When teeth whitening is performed professionally, after a proper assessment of the condition of the mouth and in accordance with the clinical protocol of the system being used, the procedure is considered safe for appropriately selected patients.
However, teeth whitening is not suitable for everyone. The procedure should not be performed in cases of active oral diseases or other situations that a dentist deems to be contraindications. Therefore, before whitening, it is important to consider not only the desired shade but also the results of an oral health assessment.
Teeth whitening is not recommended for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, or patients under the age of 18.
