Teeth straightening with clear aligners
Clear aligners are custom-made, removable devices that gradually move the teeth into their planned positions.
Clear orthodontic aligners are custom-made, removable devices that gradually move the teeth into their planned positions.
The Diadenta clinic uses the SPARK aligner system. Aligners are used to treat adults, teenagers, and, in appropriately selected cases, children as young as about 10 years old.
Clear aligners are less noticeable than fixed braces and can be removed for eating and brushing. However, successful treatment requires patient discipline and adherence to the recommended wearing schedule.
How does treatment with aligners work?
- Consultation and diagnosis The condition of the teeth, bite, and periodontium is assessed. Any necessary dental treatment should be completed before aligner therapy begins: if a filling or the shape of a tooth changes during treatment, the aligners will no longer fit. There are also cases where aligner treatment is combined with sectional braces or orthodontic mini-screws.
- Digital treatment planning Tooth movement is planned based on intraoral scans, photographs and X-rays.
- Attachment placement Small composite elements called attachments may be bonded to some teeth. They help control specific tooth movements more precisely and ensure a better fit for the aligners.
- Wearing aligners The patient wears the aligners according to a replacement and wear schedule set by the dentist.
- Follow-up visits The progress of treatment is periodically evaluated to ensure that the teeth are moving according to plan.
- Retention After active treatment is completed, fixed and removable retainers are used to help maintain the results.
